Typhoon season starts! We have to be ready for it.
As its location, Kagoshima is expected to have many typhoons. And we are in typhoon season right now. Iwamotoen has some tea fields near the sea shore(the stars in the picture above), so we definitely need to take preventive measures against typhoons.
We concern about tidal damage rather than the damage by strong wind such as typhoon. 《Tidal damage:Typhoon wind raise the seawater and bring them on tea leaves. Tea leaves will rust because of the sea salt.》 As the countermeasure, we use sprinklers to rinse the sea salt off. If the typhoon with heavy rain, it will clean the tea leaves off, while the typhoon without rain, apparently we need to spray the tea leaves by the sprinklers.
Usually sprinklers are under the tea fields, so we pull them out when the weather forecast expects typhoon. Spraying by sprinkler can protect not only from frost, but also tidal damage.
