Matcha, powdered tea, tencha, sencha, bancha, gyokuro, heavily steamed sencha, and hojicha.....Part1

Here at direct sales store of Iwamotoen, we sell powdered tea since summer.

Many people may regard it as matcha, but they are completely different. We sell powdered tea, which is produced from heavily steamed sencha. Matcha is made of powdered tencha. Even though we grind and make powdered heavily steamed sencha, it wouldn't be matcha. As you can see in the picture above, the color of matcha is vivid and clear green, in contrast to the color of heavily steamed sencha is sorrowful and dull green.

Tea is the general term for products, which are made of tea leaves such as "sencha, gyokuro, heavily steamed sencha, bancha, oolong tea, and black tea…etc." All products undergo the different production line as well as the different control work in the fields. For example, when we make powdered heavily steamed sencha, we use not only tea leaves, but also leaf veins. However, tencha, the material of matcha, doesn't have leaf veins and stems. There are other differences even more. To put it shortly, we don't refer to all of powdered tea as matcha. ☆At direct sales store of Iwamotoen, we grind tea leaves right after receiving an order. We don't store the stock, so please enjoy the aroma of freshly-ground tea.
